Motswako rapper, Cassper Nyovest became the first South
African to ever sell out the ticketpro dome and the hashtag #FillUpTheDome
helped him achieve this.
What made things easier for Cassper, was his beef with AKA,
his former friend who turned into more of an enemy. We the fans were hungry to
hear anything both the rappers had to say on stage and off the stage. Before
#FillUpTheDome, Cassper had sold gold, which is something not a lot of artists
do.
Power of The Media
The South African media is very powerful, it has the power to ruin careers or the power to make someone like Cassper rise to success, fortunately #FillUpTheDome was loved by many journalist, even eNCA wanted a piece of it by having before and after coverage. Even though Cassper said that journalist write lies, they did not take him seriously.
The Rich and Famous
support #FillUpTheDome
#FillUpTheDome achieved huge success because important
people like the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Mr. Fikile Mbalula,
Commander in Chief of the Economic Freedom Fighters and other stars went out to
support the event and later tweet about the show. EFF also sent out a statement showing support for Cassper at the bottom of their statement on a story involving cassper and AKA.
Cassper Nyovest looking for people to promote for him.
Looking for people to promote the road to #FillUpTheDome meant many people will automatically generate user content on social media, those who believed in him, and even those who did not, from celebrities to normal people on twitter.
What Cassper did very well for me, was going out to radio stations across the country, attending interviews, rubbing shoulders with influential people. Cassper was also humble by giving away a copy of his album, selling gold same time, and weeks later he went platinum. Many people can learn from #FillUpTheDome, to actually #FillUpFNBStaduim, by doing what he did on social media and other media platforms.

Casper Nyovest was actually congratulated by President Jacob Zuma on the success of #FillUfTheDome. This is another emphasis that Casper set a millstone on the history of South African artists
ReplyDeleteHis a stepping for many other artists in Africa, now let others continue doing great.
DeleteJust to make you realize the power of hashtags. Do you thing Cassper Nyovest's dream of filling up the dome would be reached if wasn't for the aid of social media?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so, the hype was on social media.
